Job Description
An established industrial operation is seeking a Pallet Sorter / General Laborer to join its second-shift team in Richmond, IL. You will sort wooden pallets by hand, separate damaged pallets, and perform quality checks to ensure materials meet established standards. This is a hands-on position that requires standing, lifting, bending, and twisting throughout the shift. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a physically active environment.
Responsibilities:
- Sort wooden pallets by hand according to grade and quality standards
- Separate damaged pallets and identify differences between pallet grades
- Perform quality checks on pallets and materials
- Lift, push, pull, stack, and down-stack wooden pallets and lumber as needed
- Follow all safety procedures and required PPE guidelines
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous welding, lumber, construction, carpentry, or roofing experience strongly preferred
- Completion of a craft apprenticeship preferred
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and regularly push and pull wooden pallets
- Ability to stand, lift, bend, and twist throughout the full shift
- Strong attention to detail, quick hands, and a commitment to quality
- Ability to understand written, verbal, diagram, and schedule-based instructions
- Ability to work in conditions that may include heat, cold, outdoor elements, and airborne particulates
- Ability to meet job-related vision, balance, and hand-eye-foot coordination requirements
- Required PPE may include eye protection, hearing protection, and safety shoes

The base pay range for this position is $18.00–$18.00 per hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
