Job Description
The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing and priming steel materials of various sizes and shapes according to AISC specifications. This position operates paint equipment, performs quality inspections, maintains the paint booth and equipment, and ensures a safe and organized work area. When not working in the paint booth, this role assists with general shop duties, material handling, drilling, grinding and other tasks as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, clean and prime steel materials, including removing spatter, rust, oil and cutting fluids
- Operate and adjust paint equipment while following proper application procedures and safety requirements
- Inspect finished work for quality issues, including runs, missed areas and other defects
- Perform routine maintenance on paint equipment, clean the paint booth and change filters as needed
- Assist with general shop duties, material handling, drilling, grinding and maintaining clean and organized work areas
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous painting, priming or industrial coating experience preferred
- Ability to prepare and inspect metal surfaces for painting
- Ability to safely operate and maintain paint equipment
- Must be able to wear a respirator and pass a required medical qualification and fit test
- Strong attendance, reliability, communication and commitment to workplace safety

The base salary range for this position is $24-26 per hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
