Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Cook to support daily food production in a high-volume commercial kitchen serving community meal programs and catering operations. This role is responsible for coordinating meal preparation, maintaining food quality and safety standards, and assisting with kitchen operations to ensure meals are prepared accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and committed to producing high-quality meals while supporting a collaborative kitchen team.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily meal production, verify production sheets, and ensure meals are prepared according to recipes and portion standards.
- Monitor food quality, inventory, and ingredient availability while communicating supply needs to kitchen leadership.
- Ensure accurate preparation of allergen and infant meals and adjust production counts as needed.
- Maintain compliance with HACCP, food safety, sanitation, and temperature logging procedures while assisting with cleaning schedules.
- Support cooks, volunteers, and delivery operations to ensure timely meal production and minimize food waste.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a full-service or institutional food production environment.
- Valid Food Handler Certificate required; ServSafe certification preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, portion control, and commercial kitchen operations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM, with weekend availability if converted to a permanent employee.

The base pay range for this position is $19.00–$21.00 per hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
