Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations for all U.S. and Canadian business units. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing payroll processing, tax compliance, internal controls, reporting, and system integrity across North America. The Payroll Manager will also serve as a collaborative partner to regional HR teams in Europe and Asia, helping ensure alignment with global payroll standards, reporting expectations, and process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring strong payroll expertise, leadership capability, systems knowledge, and the ability to work cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Benefits, and Shared Services teams.
Responsibilities:
• Lead payroll operations for all U.S. and Canadian business units, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, vendor performance, and compliance with payroll calendars and processing standards
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls across North America
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, provincial, and local payroll laws, tax regulations, filings, and year-end reporting requirements, including W-2s and T4s
• Manage payroll systems and vendor relationships, including ADP configuration, maintenance, upgrades, enhancements, and data integrity across HRIS interfaces
• Partner cross-functionally with HRIS, Total Rewards, Shared Services, Accounting, and Finance to support payroll inputs, taxable benefits, reconciliations, reporting, and general ledger accuracy
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, oversee manual payments, balance payroll accounts, and conduct audits to ensure complete and accurate payroll processing
• Support additional payroll-related programs and compliance activities, including vacation purchase plan administration, workers’ compensation audits, government census reporting, and benefits-related payroll functions
• Provide subject matter support and dotted-line guidance to international HR teams in Europe and Asia, assisting with payroll issues, reporting needs, process improvements, and regulatory or system updates Qualifications and
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent accounting experience required, with a strong foundation in payroll-related accounting principles and financial processes
• 5-7 years of payroll administration and processing experience required, including at least 2 years of hands-on experience with ADP payroll systems
• Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll laws, tax regulations, filings, and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions
• Experience working with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, data flow processes, and payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze payroll data, identify discrepancies, and implement effective solutions
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines, payroll cycles, and competing priorities across business units with a high level of accuracy
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and support international teams and stakeholders without direct authority
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion with sensitive information, and contribute in a leadership or supervisory capacity preferred
