Job Description:
The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing and maintaining accurate accounts payable records in accordance with agency policies and procedures. This role ensures timely payment of vendor invoices, compliance with internal controls, and adherence to applicable policies, grant requirements, and regulatory guidelines. All activities must support the Auburn Housing Authority (“AHA” or “Authority”) and its managed agencies’ missions, strategic goals, and objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Performs daily accounts payable functions.
- Review, verify, and process vendor invoices for payment.
- Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices to ensure proper authorization.
- Enter invoices into the accounting system and maintain accurate records.
- Prepare payment batches including checks, ACH transfers, and electronic payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accounts payable files and ensure required documentation is on file.
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payments and account status.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Support audits by providing documentation and reports as requested.
- Assist with fixed asset inventory.
- Assist with payroll and other administrative duties as required.
- Assist with other finance department duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of accounts payable procedures and practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to skillfully apply knowledge in performing assigned work.
- Ability to coordinate and perform multiple functions simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Must possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information

The pay range for this position starts at $15.47/hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
