Job Description
The Quality Technician – CMM Operator / Inspector supports both the Quality and Engineering departments by ensuring accuracy, high-quality standards, and compliance with customer requirements. This role is responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining CMM equipment, as well as performing inspections throughout production. The position involves interpreting blueprints, analyzing GD&T, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will also assist with documentation, PPAP processes, and calibration systems.
Responsibilities:
- Program, edit, and troubleshoot CMM (PC-DMIS) programs for prototype and production inspections
- Perform first piece, in-process, and final inspections while collecting and analyzing SPC data
- Interpret blueprints and GD&T to ensure accurate measurement and compliance with specifications
- Support PPAP, APQP documentation, and corrective action investigations
- Manage gage calibration systems and maintain inspection equipment records
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma required; CAD/CAM training preferred (AutoCAD, Inventor, Mastercam, etc.)
- Experience with CMM operation and PC-DMIS programming (Hexagon Brown & Sharpe preferred)
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T
- Familiarity with tool & die or stamping environments and inspection tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong problem-solving and communication skills
