Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Robotic Welding Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and optimization of robotic arc welding systems for heavy plate applications. The primary focus of this position is arc welding within automated robotic platforms, particularly in shipbuilding and large-structure environments. This role combines hands-on welding expertise with robotic programming and industrial system integration. The engineer will establish and optimize welding parameters, troubleshoot weld quality issues, support robotic commissioning, and serve as a technical advisor to customers.
Responsibilities:
- Direct hire opportunity with a global robotics and automation manufacturer serving heavy industrial markets
- High-impact field engineering role focused on robotic arc welding for heavy plate applications
- Primary focus on optimizing welding parameters and robotic performance in shipbuilding and large-structure environments
- Key position supporting installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of robotic welding systems
- 60–70% travel to shipyards and customer sites nationwide, based in Duluth, GA (Georgia candidates preferred)

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
- 5–10 years of experience in arc welding applications, with strong preference for robotic welding experience in heavy plate environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in heavy plate welding (shipbuilding, offshore, or large structural fabrication strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in robot programming and teach pendant operation, with ability to troubleshoot robotic systems in the field.
- Strong understanding of MIG, MAG, and arc welding processes, with the ability to adjust welding conditions to improve weld quality and performance.
