Job Description
The SMT Operator 2 is responsible for setting up and operating SMT production equipment including screen printers, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens. This role ensures product quality through inspections, troubleshooting defects, and performing routine maintenance and calibration of SMT equipment in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate SMT equipment according to work order instructions
- Inspect and load parts, validate components, and monitor equipment operation
- Monitor the production line for efficient operation and quality control, adjusting as needed
- Identify and resolve technical issues with SMT processes and equipment
- Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and correct defects
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration to reduce downtime
- Follow all safety regulations, traveler instructions, and routing requirements
- Maintain a clean work environment and ensure compliance with standards
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience operating, programming, and maintaining SMT equipment preferred
- Proficient in required SMT equipment; electronics knowledge required
- Soldering skills are a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong manual dexterity and eyesight for working with small components
- Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, engineers, and operators
- IPC-610 or J-STD-001 certification preferred
