Job Description:
A commercial contractor is seeking a Construction Estimator to lead preconstruction planning and budgeting efforts. This position is responsible for managing estimating activities from early design through final pricing while supporting leadership in project pursuit decisions and mentoring other estimators. The role works closely with owners, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure accurate cost development and smooth transition into construction.

This position is responsible for managing estimating activities from early design through final pricing while supporting leadership in project pursuit decisions and mentoring other estimators. The role works closely with owners, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure accurate cost development and smooth transition into construction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead estimating efforts from conceptual budgeting through final GMP development
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, pricing breakdowns, and cost projections
- Manage subcontractor outreach, bid packaging, bid leveling, and scope clarification
- Identify cost risks, constructability issues, and value engineering opportunities
- Coordinate preconstruction meetings and support turnover to project management and field teams
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 8+ years of commercial construction estimating or construction management experience
- Proven ability to produce accurate budgets at various stages of design
- Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, Bluebeam, and estimating software (Destini preferred)
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communicator with owners, design professionals, subcontractors, and internal leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience estimating healthcare or law enforcement/institutional projects
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior estimators
- Design-build project experience
- Familiarity with maintaining historical cost data
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
