Job Description
The Grinder Operator is responsible for setting up and operating centerless grinding machines used to grind the outside diameters of metal parts. This role ensures parts meet quality specifications by monitoring machine performance and making necessary adjustments. The operator will select appropriate grinding wheels, perform basic machine maintenance, and identify defective parts. Precision, attention to detail, and mechanical aptitude are key to success in this role.
Responsibilities
· Set up and operate centerless grinding machines to grind metal workpieces
· Monitor machine operations and stop equipment when issues occur
· Select, mount, and adjust grinding wheels according to specifications
· Inspect finished parts, separate defective pieces, and place acceptable parts on racks or in boxes
· Perform basic machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts

Qualifications and Requirements
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
· Strong understanding of math, measurements, and precision tools (micrometers, gauges, scales)
· Excellent mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
· Ability to work accurately under pressure in a production environment

The base salary range for this position is approximately $45,760–$58,240 annually, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Final pay is based on skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal equity. Hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
