Internal Auditor | Direct Hire | $65–80K | Des Moines, IA | On-Site
A well-established, multi-entity organization is seeking an Internal Auditor to support financial, operational, and compliance assurance activities across corporate and field operations. This role plays a key part in evaluating internal controls, supporting risk management initiatives, and partnering with leadership to improve processes and efficiencies. Reporting to a senior audit executive, this position offers broad exposure to enterprise-wide operations, subsidiary financial audits, and executive-level communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in annual risk assessments and the development of audit plans and programs
- Perform financial, operational, and compliance audits across corporate departments and field locations
- Support financial statement audits for multiple subsidiary entities
- Prepare detailed audit workpapers and documentation in accordance with audit standards
- Analyze internal controls related to assets, liabilities, receipts, and disbursements
- Develop audit reports and present findings and recommendations to management
- Track management responses and corrective actions related to audit findings
- Collaborate with external auditors during year-end financial statement audits
- Assist with investigations related to operational or financial irregularities
Preferred Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- 1+ years of experience in public accounting audit or corporate audit
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with data analytics tools and large data sets
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with diverse stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with periodic visits to operational locations
- Sedentary role with standard office equipment and technology
- Exposure to confidential and sensitive financial information
