Regulatory Audit Specialist | Direct Hire | $65–80K | Council Bluffs, IA | On-Site
A growing local organization is seeking an Audit Specialist to support regulatory reporting, data analysis, and internal controls within a highly regulated operating environment. This role is critical to ensuring timely, accurate compliance filings with evolving regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and motivated to improve processes through efficiency and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit recurring regulatory filings on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Complete complex annual compliance calculations and supporting documentation in coordination with third-party reviewers
- Analyze operational and financial data to identify anomalies, trends, or potential reporting issues
- Monitor regulatory updates and assess potential impacts to reporting requirements and internal processes
- Recommend and support enhancements or automation opportunities within compliance and reporting workflows
- Perform periodic internal controls reviews and report findings to leadership
- Develop, update, and enforce internal compliance policies and procedures
- Partner with internal and external audit teams to explain processes, controls, and documentation
- Maintain accurate records and supporting schedules for all compliance-related activities
Required Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Strong Experience in compliance, regulatory reporting, accounting, data analysis, or audit
- Prior exposure to audits or internal controls testing strongly preferred
- Experience within the oil, energy, commodity, or governmental industry is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Strong data entry & analytical skills with the ability to recognize unusual or inconsistent data patterns
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in process improvement and learning systems that support efficiency and accuracy
- Ability to manage deadlines and maintain accuracy in a regulated environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary range of $65,000–$80,000, based on experience
