Job Description
Under limited supervision, the Lead Vascular Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic sonographic examinations using advanced ultrasonic equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment across various modes and techniques
- Accurately locate, evaluate, and document pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data
- Educate and instruct patients on proper positioning to ensure optimal image quality
- Schedule and coordinate diagnostic tests; maintain accurate operational and procedural logs
- Record exam results and update patient records for referring physicians in a timely manner
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment; order supplies as needed
- Serve as a lead or mentor to junior team members, supporting skill development and workflow improvements
- Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality, safety, and regulatory standards
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of diagnostic ultrasound experience
- Registered Vascular Sonographer credential (ARDMS or CCI required)
- Associate’s degree or graduation from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
- Strong knowledge of ultrasound imaging protocols and procedures
- Excellent patient-care skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically
- Ability to read and interpret imaging orders and written instructions
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor, support, and guide team members
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities and emergent needs
- Commitment to maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism
