Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Radiation Therapist to provide advanced technical expertise in the accurate and safe delivery of radiation therapy treatments. This role supports precise treatment delivery using complex radiation therapy equipment and imaging systems while maintaining a strong focus on patient care, safety, and comfort. The Senior Radiation Therapist collaborates closely with physicians, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and clinical leadership to support high-quality patient outcomes and departmental excellence.
Responsibilities
- Deliver prescribed radiation therapy treatments accurately across all therapy machines and CT simulators
- Provide guidance, oversight, and mentorship to staff radiation therapists
- Generate, interpret, and maintain electronic treatment charts (e-charts) based on physician prescriptions and computerized treatment plans
- Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety protocols for patients, staff, and self
- Maintain accurate electronic and written documentation of treatments, charges, and patient care activities
- Assist with equipment commissioning, calibration, quality assurance, and performance monitoring
- Educate and prepare patients for radiation therapy and monitor patient condition throughout treatment sessions
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care team members
- Monitor patient progress during treatment and withhold therapy when clinically indicated, escalating concerns appropriately
- Assist in training and evaluation of radiation therapy students
Qualifications and Requirements
Required:
- Associate’s degree in a science-related field or graduate of an AMA-accredited Radiation Therapy program
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience as a Radiation Therapist
- ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy
- Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist license
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and advanced clinical skills
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities
Preferred:
- Experience with Varian radiation therapy equipment
- Computed Tomography (CT) certification
