Job Description
Our client in Des Moines is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations for their manufacturing & distribution location. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on improving costing accuracy, managing financial reporting, and supporting process improvements across the business. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about driving financial performance in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage cost accounting operations to ensure accurate and consistent practices across the operation
• Oversee standard cost updates, budgeting, and variance analysis for labor, materials, and overhead
• Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve margins
• Participate in the implementation and improvement of financial systems to enhance cost tracking and reporting

• Support month-end close, capital tracking, and fixed asset reconciliation processes

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, required
• CPA strongly preferred
• 5–7 years of accounting experience, including prior management or supervisory responsibilities
• Strong background in cost accounting, manufacturing operations, and variance analysis
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy

The base salary range for this position is $100,000- $125,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
