Job Summary:
We are seeking a Managerial Government Accountant with strong leadership skills and the ability to serve as Bursar. The ideal candidate will hold an active CPA license and demonstrate proven expertise in governmental accounting, financial reporting, and team management. This role requires a professional who can ensure compliance with all regulations, oversee fiscal operations, and support strategic financial planning for the organization.

This role requires a professional who can ensure compliance with all regulations, oversee fiscal operations, and support strategic financial planning for the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage accounting staff, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all financial activities
- Act as Bursar, responsible for managing billing, collections, and tuition-related transactions
- Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports to senior leadership and external agencies
- Develop and manage annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts
- Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and all applicable laws and regulations
- Oversee audits, internal controls, and risk management practices
- Provide strategic financial guidance to support organizational decision-making
- Utilize advanced accounting systems and Microsoft Excel to track and analyze financial data
Qualifications and Requirements:
- CPA license required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 5+ years of governmental or public accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Strong understanding of GAAP and governmental accounting standards
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and accounting software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly

The base pay range for this position is $35.00–$50.00, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
