Safety Lanyards Recalled Due to Potential Fall Hazard (TRN Safety Alert)

From Cliff Gerbick, ASP (The Reserves Network Director of Safety)

On July 12, 2011, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a voluntary recall of Scorpio and Absorbica Shock Absorbing Lanyards. The reason for the recall is because some lanyards are missing a safety stitch on the attachment loop, which can cause the lanyard to disconnect from the climbing harness, thus posing a fall hazard to consumers.

If these lanyards are found to be utilized at a worksite, consumers should immediately stop using them and contact Petzl America, Inc. for a free inspection and replacement of any non-conforming products.

The full recall information can be found by clicking here.
