Job Description
One of the premier Oncology lab is seeking a Transfusion Specialist who will oversee a blood bank that provides critical blood products and transfusion services that are essential for patients undergoing life-saving treatments, such as surgery, chemotherapy, and stem cell transplant. Responsibilities:
- Maintains knowledge of all regulatory standards related to Transfusion Medicine
- Completes, verifies and reports testing in timely manner.
- Stewards Transfusion Medicine resources and practices Lean Methodology
- Assists peers and supervisors with tasks after completion of assigned work.
- Assists in the development of laboratory personnel and tests, to enhance laboratory functions.
- Actively participates in training students, employees and fellows.
- Assist Transfusion leadership with new equipment/test validation as assigned
- Validates database for new software or new tests implemented in the laboratory.
- Analyzes and evaluates patient results correctly and appropriately.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related science field or Molecular Genetic Technology.
- Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited Clinical Laboratory Science/Molecular Genetic Technology program.
- Master's Degree or Doctorate in a related science field is preferred
- MLS or BB-ASCP Certification
- SBB – Specialist in Blood Banking Certification
- 8 years of clinical laboratory compliance and operations experience, including 3 years of blood banking and 3 years of lead or supervisory experience, with a bachelor’s degree.
- OR 6 years of clinical laboratory compliance and operations experience, including 3 years of blood banking and 3 years of lead or supervisory experience, with a Master's Degree.
- OR 4 years of clinical laboratory compliance and operations experience, including 3 years of blood banking and 3 years of lead or supervisory experience, with a Doctorate degree.
- Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.

If you are hired, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth
