Job Description:
The Shipping Lead is responsible for overseeing daily shipping operations, ensuring orders are processed accurately and efficiently. This role includes maintaining carrier relationships, scheduling shipments, handling claims, and supporting departmental KPIs. The Shipping Lead will train and guide team members, implement process improvements, and foster a collaborative environment while ensuring compliance with company standards.
Responsibilities:
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in the shipping department
- Develop, articulate, and maintain effective shipping area instructions (both written and oral)
- Understand departmental KPIs and implement strategies to consistently meet them
- Manage carrier relationships: secure freight quotes, schedule shipments, file claims, ensure reliability
- Promote situational leadership concepts and support their application on the team
- Demonstrate competencies including leadership, effective communication, analytical problem solving, learning orientation, performance management, technical aptitude, personal credibility, diversity and inclusion awareness, and presentation skills
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as operations, materials, and manufacturing to meet internal and external customer needs
- Carry out additional tasks as specified or requested by leadership
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in shipping, preferably involving industrial products
- Proficiency with GlobalShop (ERP) – able to train others, troubleshoot issues, and generate reports
- Strong interpersonal and telephone communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed individual performance measures

The base pay range for this position is $24-$26/hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
