Job Description
An experienced mainframe programmer is needed to support enterprise application systems in a fast-paced IT environment. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing COBOL-based programs while ensuring reliability, accuracy, and alignment with evolving business needs. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver high-impact programming solutions across critical systems.

You'll work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver high-impact programming solutions across critical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance high-performance mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, and VSAM.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and interpret technical requirements for system development.
- Conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure quality, accuracy, and performance.
- Support upgrades and modifications to existing systems with minimal disruption to business operations.
- Maintain technical documentation for new and existing programs.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of mainframe development experience in COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, TSO, and z/OS environments.
- Ability to independently manage moderately complex technical issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to handle confidential data and maintain high accuracy standards.
Preferred:
- Experience with DB2, SQL, XML, or Visual Studio.
- Knowledge of insurance industry systems or terminology.
- Background in project management or leading development efforts.
- Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability in unstructured environments.
- Ability to think critically and learn new tools and systems quickly.

The Pay Rate range for this position is $48 – $64 per hour, excluding benefits. Your final Pay Rate will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note that hiring at the top of the range is uncommon, as it allows room for future salary growth.
