Job Description
Join a global leader in electrical and data network solutions as a Senior Fiber Engineer. In this position, you’ll lead the design, development, and validation of opto-mechanical systems and assemblies. Working closely with product management, manufacturing, and project teams, you’ll help drive product innovation, ensure manufacturability, and deliver cost-effective, high-performance fiber solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical and opto-mechanical design and testing efforts for new and existing products.
- Manage product development projects from concept through production, ensuring adherence to quality and performance standards.
- Design and validate opto-mechanical systems using SolidWorks CAD, FEA, and related analysis tools.
- Conduct design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams across product marketing, engineering, and manufacturing.
- Support product improvement, cost reduction (VAVE), and design-for-manufacture initiatives.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, testing protocols, and validation reports.
- Interface with suppliers, external tooling partners, and standard bodies (TIA, IEC) as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- 5–7 years of professional experience in mechanical or opto-mechanical design engineering.
- Experience with fiber optic systems or connector design.
- Proven project management and leadership experience.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks (2D/3D) modeling and simulation tools.
- Hands-on knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and DFMA principles.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (TIA, IEC, ISO/IEC, IEEE).
