Job Description
Play a critical role in the recycling and materials processing industry as a Scale Operator. In this role, you will ensure accurate material identification, grading, and weighing for all inbound and outbound loads. Primary responsibilities include operating the scale system, verifying transactions, sorting materials, and assisting with processing tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Location Manager in ensuring correct weights, material identification, and grading for all loads.
- Operate the scale system and verify accuracy of scale tickets, ensuring all required information is correctly recorded.
- Sort, grade, and process materials as per company guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free work environment.
- Manage customer traffic flow safely and efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Location Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in a metal recycling environment.
- Ability to identify and sort various metals accurately.
- Basic computer knowledge to operate the scale system.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, and using hands, legs, and arms.
- Forklift/Bobcat operation experience (training provided if necessary).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
