Job Description
The Real Estate Accountant is responsible for managing financial records and transactions for real estate properties, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. They analyze budgets, track expenses, prepare financial reports, and assist with property valuations and audits. This role requires strong knowledge of accounting principles, real estate finance, and software tools to maintain accurate and timely financial data.
Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements.
- Oversee and lead preparation of state sales and use tax returns including implementation of new states as needed. Research and update team on changes in sales/use tax laws.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in accounting or finance
- Yardi experience is a plus
- 3-5 years of accounting experience required
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Must be VERY detail oriented

The base salary range for this position is $75,000-$80,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
