- Assists the Community Resilience Officer in the development, coordination, and implementation of the Community Health Resilience Strategic Plan.
- Conducts small group or large audience resiliency-related presentations to professionals and the public.
- Serves as primary PHPR liaison to various key Harris County community entities to pre-establish relationships for strengthening coordination for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. Partner entities include (but not limited to): community partners, faith-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, area-consulates, etc.
- Works in concert with PHPR team and departmental leadership in helping identify communities at particular risk for emergencies and/or having gone through emergencies, to develop focused strategies for optimizing resilience-related engagement with various community entities.
- Improve and build capacity for resilience in the community through the design and presentation of community resilience workshops and the development of communications networks.
- Spearhead partner development strategies to build strong, viable, and sustained relationships to conduct activities with communities within the Harris County area to foster trust, engender connectedness, and to promote understanding of issues that may be related to both emergency planning and response as well as general resiliency.
- Master’s degree with preference given to a degree in relevant areas such as public health, healthcare, social work, communications, international development, etc.
- At least two (2) years of community outreach and collaboration experience.
- At least one (1) year of communication and public speaking experience.
- Experience in the Peace Corps, Americorps, or other international or disaster response-related program.
- Bilingual, and/or individuals with training in cross-cultural communication.
- The location of this position is in the Southwest Houston side with close access to various restaurants.
