Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of an office building in Plano, TX. This role supports a professional work environment by maintaining building systems, performing repairs, and ensuring the facility is safe, clean, and fully functional for employees and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, lighting, electrical, and general building systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, service calls, and building emergencies.
- Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to identify potential maintenance or safety issues.
- Oversee and coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or services (e.g., janitorial, landscaping, elevator, pest control).
- Assist with office moves, furniture assembly, and workspace reconfiguration.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and supply inventories.
- Adhere to all safety, environmental, and building code regulations.
- Support sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives within the facility.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade or technical school training preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in building or facilities maintenance, ideally in a commercial or office setting.
- General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform tasks in various physical environments.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance logs and email communication.
