Job Description
The Industrial Welder Trainee supports skilled welders in the preparation, setup, and execution of welding tasks within a manufacturing environment. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals eager to learn welding techniques, safety standards, and quality requirements while gaining hands-on experience in industrial fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding in accordance with specifications
- Cut, grind, and position metal components for fabrication and assembly
- Prepare materials by cleaning, degreasing, cutting, and fitting metal parts prior to welding
- Set up and maintain welding surfaces, tools, and equipment
- Complete basic welding tasks under supervision in multiple positions (flat, vertical, overhead)
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders
- Inspect completed welds to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications
- Handle and transport materials, tools, and supplies safely
- Clean and maintain welding tools, equipment, and work areas
- Follow all safety procedures, health standards, and company policies at all times
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to lift, hold, and maneuver heavy materials
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license required
