Spice Room Clerk
Garden City, GA | $16/hour | 1st shift: 6am-until finished
Position Overview:
The Spice Room Clerk is responsible for managing and documenting spice measurements and inventory for product blends. This role includes issuing, controlling, and weighing spices, maintaining records, and assisting with grinding operations. Good computer and communication skills are essential to track inventory and ensure compliance with regulations.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Control the issuing and return of pre-weighed batch and pickle spices.
- Maintain control over restricted ingredients.
- Weigh spices for Bone Room daily operations.
- Perform end-of-month spice inventory.
- Annotate lot numbers for all spices and meats on batch sheets.
- Conduct basic math and measurements for spice blends used in products such as sausages.
- Count and write tickets for various blend types.
- Prepare spices for the next day before the end of each shift.
- Report to the Grinding Room Supervisor for assistance in grinding activities once spice duties are complete.
- Lift and move items weighing between 25 and 53 lbs.
- Ensure the work area is clean at the end of the day and all containers are properly covered.
- Verify with the supervisor that all tasks are completed.
- Pre-measure controlled spices (e.g., cure mixture, Erythorbate) following USDA regulations and maintain accurate documentation.
- Calibrate scales daily according to SOPs for spice measurement.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety policies.
Skills and Requirements:
- Proficient in basic computer skills for inventory and documentation.
- Strong communication skills for reporting and collaboration with team members.
- Ability to perform basic math and measurements.
- Ability to lift up to 53 lbs.
- Attention to detail and adherence to USDA regulations and safety procedures.
