Design Technician
Pay Rate: $15.00 to $18.00 DOE
Location: Mt Airy, NC
Hours: Day Shift
We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Technician specializing in 2D CAD CNC operation to join our team. As a Design Technician 2D CAD CNC Operator, you will play a vital role in our manufacturing process by creating precise technical drawings and programming CNC machines to cut fabric components for sewing and assembly.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize 2D CAD software to create detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics based on project requirements and specifications.
- Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications to develop accurate CAD designs for CNC machining.
- Program and set up CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to execute machining operations according to design specifications.
- Select appropriate tools, materials, and machining parameters based on part geometry, material properties, and production requirements.
- Perform test runs and simulations to verify CNC programs and identify potential issues or discrepancies.
- Monitor machine operations and adjust settings as necessary to ensure the quality and accuracy of machined parts.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and other team members to optimize designs for manufacturability and efficiency.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Document and maintain records of CNC programs, tooling setups, and machining processes for future reference and continuous improvement.
Skills Needed:
- Associate degree or equivalent certification in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience working as a CAD CNC Operator or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing CAD drawings and CNC machining projects.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and CNC machining processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machining issues and optimize CNC programs for efficiency and quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of CNC machine operation, setup, and maintenance is preferred.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and machining techniques.
