Job Description
The organization seeks a strategic and experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. As a key member of the financial leadership team, the Controller is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial records, preparing timely and accurate financial reports, and maintaining a robust system of internal controls. This individual will oversee the daily operations of the Business Office, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grant accounting, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader committed to advancing the organization’s mission through exceptional fiscal stewardship and strategic financial management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all financial reporting
- Lead all audit preparation & tax management
- Lead treasury / cash management function
- Lead accounting team operations
- Assist on the annual financial plan and budget tracking
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required
- Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, including supervisory responsibility
- CPA preferred; MBA, CMA, or related advanced degree a plus
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, particularly nonprofit accounting standards
- Proven understanding of internal controls and compliance
- Experience in higher education or nonprofit accounting preferred

The base salary range for this position is $70000 – $90000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
