Job Description
The Customer Service Advocate II is mainly responsible for handling incoming hotline inquiries related to benefits and eligibility verification, claim status (including identifying claims that may need reconsideration), authorization updates, and member complaints. The role also involves accurately documenting all interactions, performing timely follow-ups when necessary, and properly routing information electronically—all while ensuring compliance with HIPAA confidentiality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to inbound calls, emails, or chat inquiries from members and applicants regarding healthcare plan enrollment, eligibility, claim status and benefit inquiries
- Provide accurate information regarding plan options, coverage, premiums, and required documentation
- Identify claims that may require reconsideration and take appropriate next steps, while documenting all calls and interactions in the system
- Maintain knowledge of current healthcare programs, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve member concerns and ensure customer satisfaction
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Highschool Diploma or GED required
- 2 years of customer service experience, in healthcare, insurance, or a call center environment
- Experience in claims, authorization status, benefits, and eligibility
- Knowledge of healthcare enrollment processes (Medicaid, Medicare, Marketplace, or commercial insurance) preferred
- Proficient in using computers and navigating multiple systems (CRM, enrollment platforms, etc.)
