Job Summary:
The Benefits Specialist I is responsible for the administration and coordination of employee benefits programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service to employees. This role requires advanced knowledge of employee benefits, strong technical skills in PeopleSoft, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and experience performing mail merges for employee communications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.
- Utilize PeopleSoft HRIS to process benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and audits with a high level of accuracy.
- Perform complex data analysis and reporting using Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and charts).
- Develop and execute mail merges for employee benefit communications, notices, and annual enrollment materials.
- Assist in the coordination of annual open enrollment, ensuring timely and accurate distribution of materials and data processing.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefit eligibility, plan coverage, and claim resolution.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations such as ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and ACA.
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and external vendors to resolve benefit discrepancies.
- Support audits and reconciliations of vendor invoices and employee deductions.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency within the benefits function.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in benefits administration or HR operations.
- PeopleSoft experience required (intermediate to advanced level).
- Proven expertise with Microsoft Excel (advanced level) and mail merge tools (Word/Outlook)

In the spirit of pay transparency, we want to share the base hourly pay rate for this position, which is $24.00- $26.00 per hr, not including benefits, potential bonuses, or additional compensation. If you are hired, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition, we also believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future & continued salary growth.
